Participation Agreement

Kansas Home Educators is proud to offer homeschooled graduates and their families the opportunity to participate in a graduation ceremony. The very fact that you (both the student and the parent!) will soon reach graduation day signifies that you have been willing to follow the Lord's lead down roads less traveled.

While we celebrate the sacrifices that are entailed in reaching such a milestone, our primary intention is to honor the Lord God who made the sacrifices possible. In keeping with that stated desire, the following are some standards to which the homeschooling graduate and their families should adhere.

· Graduates need to be homeschooled at least the last two years by their parents or guardian. If the graduate has homeschooled less than two years because of extenuating circumstances, an appeal below may be submitted.  Virtual charter schools controlled by the public school system (such as K12, Insight, etc…) are not considered as home schools by Kansas Home Educators (KSHE) or Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA).  For more information search for “virtual charter schools” at http://www.hslda.org.  HSLDA’s website states “HSLDA does not provide legal services in connection with children enrolled in any such public school options.”  (referring to virtual charter schools or public school independent study programs)

· Graduates and Parents must be willing to attend meetings and participate with other planning activities and tasks.

· Graduates should seek to live a life pleasing to God by exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit rather than the acts of the flesh. (Galatians 5:19-24)

· KSHE does not endorse the quality of education of any one graduate and provides the opportunity to participate in a ceremony only.

· KSHE reserves the right to refuse participation to any applicant.

· If any of the above standards cannot be met, any graduating student or their families may seek an appeal to any of the above standards in writing to the KSHE board of directors (email: graduation@kshomeeducators.com) by January 15, 2022.

We have read the above guidelines and are willing to comply with them to the best of our ability.
